This course studies the use of foreign languages in listening, speaking, reading and writing for information exchange, expression of opinions and feelings, interpretation, comprehensive presentation on various matters, and interpersonal relationship development. This course will help student gain further understanding of the differences between the languages and cultures of native speakers and Thai culture. In addition, this course focuses on using foreign languages as learning instruments to study cultures and different ways of living among people with diverse backgrounds in order to build awareness to be global citizens.

This course aims to equip students with basic Thai conversations. It focuses on daily life topics such as telling times, days, months, years and seasons. Other topics also include students’ daily activities such as buying food and clothes, selling items and asking for directions. In addition, the lessons include reading and writing according to the Thai phonological system. Students will read and write Thai consonants, vowels and tones and they will study word formation, vocabulary and sentence construction. Additionally, the lessons include storytelling, summarizing main ideas through reading and listening assignments, giving opinions and conducting academic presentations.

This course studies the category, interpretation, understanding, aesthetics and plurality of Thai art through the concepts, debates, and academic critiques of contemporary art history and Thai iconography, the influence of the historiography of Thai art on the nationalist and localist movements as well as global citizenship in modern Thai society.
