The department encourages and supports students to actively participate in creative initiatives that foster an innovative spirit as part of their personal identity, while enhancing the reputation and public image of Walailak University.
Key initiatives include implementing the “Creative Campus” roadmap to hone soft skills through student activities; supporting clubs, student societies, and student government bodies—ensuring representation from every school within the Student Union and Student Council; organizing initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); establishing cross-disciplinary innovation sandboxes where students can explore and design self-initiated projects; and strengthening the club advisory system for greater guidance and efficiency.
Student Well-being Promotion Department
The Student Well-being Promotion Department focuses on promoting optimal physical health and holistic well-being, helping students stay healthy, avoid high-risk health conditions, and maintain a high quality of life essential for timely graduation.
The department is driving the implementation of the WU Digital Well-being Map, advancing the “Peer Support” initiative, providing psychological counseling training for academic advisors, and collaborating closely with hospitals and relevant healthcare networks. Operational priorities include running road safety campaigns, developing a part-time job matching system to enhance student work-study opportunities, and utilizing online mental health screening forms for proactive care and follow-up. By building an integrated internal support network, the department systematically evaluates student well-being initiatives to deliver measurable, tangible outcomes.
Arts and Culture Preservation Department
The Arts and Culture Preservation Department promotes cultural preservation by engaging students in traditional cultural practices, academic inquiry, and developing an appreciative understanding of Thai cultural heritage. The department encourages student and staff involvement in preserving local customs through close collaboration with schools, internal departments, and external organizations.
Strategic priorities include establishing a comprehensive database of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s cultural resources to serve as an academic reference; driving model communities through a cultural capital-based creative economy; deploying an online request system for venue reservations, event hosting, workshops, and local wisdom coordinator linkages; and building an accessible Digital Cultural Repository to safeguard and share local heritage.
Sports Science Teaching Support and Services Department
The Sports Science Teaching Support and Services Department encourages sports participation and physical exercise to build physical strength, discipline, and true sportsmanship: knowing how to win, lose, and forgive.
The department develops the “Sport for Leadership” program to foster leadership abilities through athletics, promotes health-oriented sporting activities, conducts campaigns to reduce health-risk behaviors, and supports national and international tournament hosting. To broaden participation beyond varsity athletes, the department integrates modern fitness technology—such as Virtual Run challenges—and develops online athletic skill-building modules designed for sports science course enrollees and general fitness enthusiasts.
General Management and Administration Department
The General Management and Administration Department serves as the primary operational backbone of the Center for Student Promotion and Development. Its core responsibilities encompass general administrative operations, strategic and budgetary planning, records management, procurement and asset management, and financial audit and accounting oversight.
The department also manages facility operations and services for the Sports and Health Center, athlete accommodation management, and the Cultural and Sports Promotion Center Fund. In addition, it develops relevant workflow systems, supports the formation of institutional partnerships (MOUs), and resolves administrative bottlenecks. By modernizing clerical and administrative frameworks into a professional, collaborative working model, the department strives to elevate the Center into a high-performance organization (HPO).
