Walailak University Participates in the 47th Thai Traditional Music in Higher Education at Chiang Mai University

Walailak University joins the 47th Thai Traditional Music in Higher Education event at Chiang Mai University, with students performing in the Mahaduriya Ensemble to preserve and promote Thai cultural heritage.

On November 25, 2024, Walailak University participated in the opening ceremony of the 47th Thai Traditional Music in Higher Education, held under the theme “Pathomphisutsangkid: A Harmonious Gathering of Music to Celebrate 60 Years of Kachapoompiwat” at the Chiang Mai University Auditorium. The delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, along with Dr. Somphot Ketkaew, staff, and members of the Thai Music Club of Walailak University, who joined the opening ceremony.

Walailak University also sent its students to perform in the Mahaduriya Ensemble alongside representatives from higher education institutions across the country, showcasing the beauty and potential of Thai traditional music on a national stage. This event serves as an important platform for the preservation, promotion, and development of Thai cultural heritage, ensuring its continuity in Thai society. The 47th Thai Traditional Music in Higher Education brought together over 80 institutions and more than 2,000 students, reaffirming the significance of Thai music networks in higher education and their role in promoting Thai cultural identity in today’s society.
