Between July 4–5, 2026, the Student Well-being Promotion Division, Center for Student Promotion and Development (Smile & Smart Center), Walailak University, organized the “Junior Helpers” workshop at Meeting Room 4, 2nd Floor, Science and Technology Park Building. The event was attended by 160 student representatives from all schools. The training aimed to develop knowledge, understanding, and basic psychological care skills, as well as to build a network of student leaders to appropriately monitor, care for, and refer peers experiencing mental health issues, aligning with the university’s student well-being promotion policy.

On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Marisa Poomiphak Na Nongkhai gave a welcome speech, officially opened the project, and delivered an address to the participants and executive committee. She emphasized the crucial role of student leaders as “friends who listen, understand, and are ready to refer,” helping to create a safe university society conducive to good mental health and building a strong peer support network.

The training was supported by guest speakers Asst. Prof. Dr. Anoma Santiworakul and Asst. Prof. Dr. Puangtip Puapong, Helper lecturers from the School of Allied Health Sciences, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Apsorn Boonyang from the School of Science, who transferred knowledge and conducted practical activities. Participants learned about understanding themselves and others, accepting individual differences, practicing Active Listening skills, asking questions, observing warning signs, providing basic psychological first aid, and referring at-risk individuals. They also collaborated on planning to drive the Junior Helpers network within each school so they can efficiently apply the knowledge to care for and assist their peers.

At the end of the project, Asst. Prof. Thanasan Theparat delivered an encouraging closing speech, praising the dedication of all participating students. He expressed confidence that the Junior Helpers student leaders will be a vital force in building a peer support network, promoting mental well-being, and collectively creating a warm, safe, and sustainably caring Walailak University community.
