Walailak University Shuttlers Shine with 3 Awards at the 1st WU & H.D.Y. Badminton Championship
Walailak University, in collaboration with H.D.Y. Badminton Club, Songkhla Province, organized the “WU & H.D.Y. Badminton Championship 1st Edition” with over 350 athletes participating.
On November 16–17, 2024, the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, Walailak University, together with H.D.Y. Badminton Club, Songkhla Province, hosted the inaugural “WU & H.D.Y. Badminton Championship” at the WU Badminton Courts, Walailak University. The venue featured 12 standard courts to accommodate the competition. The event aimed to promote and develop sporting skills among youth, students, university staff, and athletes from various clubs across Southern Thailand, attracting more than 350 participants.
The results showed outstanding performances by Walailak University athletes, who secured three prizes:
– Men’s Doubles (P+ Level): Mr. Phonthakorn Srirung (Walailak University) and Mr. Paphangkorn Srirung (Koh Bad Team) – 1st Runner-up
– Men’s Doubles (S+ Level): Mr. Kritipat Praopring (Siam Nakornthani Team) and Mr. Ratchanon Chaisit (Walailak University) – 2nd Runner-up
– Men’s Doubles (S– Level): Mr. Teerapong Nupol and Mr. Nithiphat Kongarun (both from Walailak University) – 2nd Runner-up
The award ceremony was honored by Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, together with Dr. Mongkol Theerananon, Assistant to the President, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, who congratulated and presented awards to the athletes.
