Creative Performance of “Nattaya Nora Bucha Thuat Tumpang”

Walailak University presents the performance “Nattaya Nora Bucha Thuat Tumpang” as part of a creative research initiative to preserve and promote local cultural heritage.

On January 26, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, Walailak University, together with Assistant Professor Suphat Naksen, research project advisor, led the performance “Nattaya Nora Bucha Thuat Tumpang” at the Tumpang Archaeological Site, located within Walailak University.

This performance is part of the creative research undertaken by the Walailak Nora Training Center under the research program “Elevating the Cultural Heritage of Nora Towards Sustainability.” With Assistant Professor Suphat Naksen, a distinguished Nora expert, serving as the project advisor, the performance was inspired by the local community’s belief and faith in “Thuat Tumpang,” the sacred guardian of the Tumpang Archaeological Site. Designed as an adaptation of traditional Nora rituals, the performance embodies the identity of Southern Thai culture through dance movements, chants, costumes, and traditional Southern musical rhythms. It reflects the power of art and local wisdom as invaluable cultural assets that can be developed and sustained for future generations.
