Walailak Songkran Delivery Brings Joy for Thai New Year 2025
Walailak University organized the activity “Walailak Songkran Delivery: Spreading Happiness for Thai New Year 2025”, delivering blessings directly to the homes of elderly community members, in order to preserve Thai cultural traditions and foster well-being among surrounding communities.
On April 1 and 3, 2025, the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion of Walailak University, in collaboration with the Academic Service Center, the project “Walailak Health Model: Restoring Quality of Life and Building Sustainable Well-being for Surrounding Communities”, the Walailak Demonstration Community Health Promoting Hospital, Ban Thungchon Community Health Promoting Hospital, Village 6 Hua Taphan Subdistrict, and Village 8 Thaiburi Subdistrict, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, organized the “Walailak Songkran Delivery” activity. The event was led by Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jareeprapal, Vice President, and Assistant Professor Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, along with staff from various university departments who joined the community outreach activities.
This initiative focused on visiting elderly residents with health conditions who were unable to travel to attend the Songkran festival at the university. Through the traditional water-pouring blessing ritual, the activity brought auspiciousness, happiness, and demonstrated respect and value for the elderly within families and society. It also reflected Walailak University’s commitment to preserving and promoting Thailand’s cherished Songkran traditions, while strengthening the bonds between the university and its surrounding communities.
The “Walailak Songkran Delivery” activity formed part of the broader annual event “Walailak Songkran: Preserving Thai Traditions 2025”, scheduled to take place on April 9, 2025, at the Central Hall, School of Architecture and Design Building, Walailak University. The celebration invites staff, students, and the public to come together in preserving and cherishing Thai cultural heritage.
