Ready to Cheer! Walailak University Hosts the 41st Thailand University Staff Games “Tumpang Games” with Over 7,000 Athletes Competing May 3–10, 2025

Walailak University is fully prepared to host the 41st Thailand University Staff Games “Tumpang Games”, bringing together more than 7,000 staff athletes from 63 institutions nationwide to compete for 426 gold medals between May 3–10, 2025.

On April 3, 2025, at Phattharathammaphorn Conference Room, Walailak University Medical Center, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, together with Mr. Prasong Jan-ya, Tha Sala District Chief (representing the Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province), Associate Professor Dr. Chusit Pradabpetch, President of the University Sports Board of Thailand, and Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Suksuwan, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Sports Excellence Promotion (USBT), jointly announced the university’s readiness to host the 41st edition of the Thailand University Staff Games “Tumpang Games.” The event is being held in celebration of the university’s 33rd anniversary.

This year’s competition is organized under the theme “Power of Spirit”, symbolizing the true spirit of sportsmanship — knowing how to win, accept defeat, forgive, and foster unity. More than 7,000 staff athletes from 63 universities across the country will compete in 17 sports disciplines for over 426 gold medals. Most events will take place at Walailak University’s on-campus facilities, covering 15 sports. Exceptions include golf, which will be held at Ratchaprapha Dam in Surat Thani Province, and snooker-billiards, hosted in Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, emphasized that the university is highly prepared to serve as host, with world-class sports facilities and extensive experience in organizing both national and international sporting events. Hosting the Games will not only enhance the athletic capacity of university staff but also provide opportunities to promote tourism and showcase the unique local culture and lifestyle of Nakhon Si Thammarat, stimulating the local economy and leaving a lasting impression on visitors.

Mr. Prasong Jan-ya, Tha Sala District Chief, added that Nakhon Si Thammarat boasts great potential and distinctiveness in natural resources, history, arts and culture, local wisdom, and resilient community life. The “Tumpang Games” will play a significant role in boosting tourism and further invigorating the province’s economy.
