“Tumpang Games” Concludes with Success as the Torch is Passed to Srinakharinwirot University for 2026

Walailak University officially closed the curtains on the 41st Thailand University Staff Games “Tumpang Games”, with Mahidol University crowned the overall champion, before passing the hosting duties on to Srinakharinwirot University for the next edition.

On 10 May 2025, Walailak University hosted the closing ceremony of the 41st Thailand University Staff Games “Tumpang Games” at the Phattharathammaphorn Auditorium, 9th Floor, Building B, Walailak University Medical Center. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, with Associate Professor Chusit Pradapphet, President of the University Staff Sports Board of Thailand (USSBT), administrators, and staff in attendance.

The ceremony began with a parade and a summary report of the competition delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jareeprapal, President of the Organizing Committee. He revealed that over the course of 10 days, athletes from more than 59 higher education institutions nationwide competed across 17 sports. The results saw Mahidol University secure the overall championship with 108 gold, 83 silver, and 71 bronze medals. Chiang Mai University placed second with 49 gold, 48 silver, and 57 bronze medals, while Khon Kaen University came third with 40 gold, 22 silver, and 33 bronze medals. This marked yet another gold medal championship title for Mahidol University.

Following the summary, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong presided over the handover of the hosting flag to Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwatchara Phromchittipong, Acting Vice President for Planning and Social Strategy, Srinakharinwirot University, which will serve as the host institution for the next games. Notably, this was the third time Walailak University had the honor of hosting the Thailand University Staff Games, after previously organizing the competition under the name “Walailak Games” in the 25th edition (2006) and the 31st edition (2012).
