Young Athletes Enthusiastically Join “Walailak Championship 2025” – A Stage to Discover the Future Swimming Talents of Southern Thailand
Walailak University hosts the youth swimming competition “Walailak Championship 2025,” aiming to raise regional standards in swimming and propel Southern Thailand’s sports towards the national level.
On 17 May 2025, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Walailak Championship 2025”, the annual youth swimming championship, held at the Walailak University Swimming Pool. The event was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Urai Jareeprapal, Vice President, and Assistant Professor Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, who welcomed young athletes and their parents from across the 14 provinces of Southern Thailand, totaling more than 1,000 participants.
The competition, organized by the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, Walailak University, aims to develop and enhance the standards of youth swimming competitions in the region, while also providing a platform for young swimmers to showcase their potential. Additionally, the event contributes to promoting the image of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in terms of tourism and the local economy. Competitions were divided into male and female categories for participants aged 7 to 15, as well as a general category for those born in 2009 or earlier. Winners received trophies, medals, and certificates. The competition was held from 17–18 May 2025.
