PTT Tennis Development Tournament (Southern Region) Kicks Off at Walailak University
Walailak University joins hands with the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand to host the 5th “PTT Tennis Development Tournament” (Southern Region), providing a stage for 141 young athletes to showcase their talents and pave the way toward professional careers.
On 12–13 July 2025, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, organized the youth tennis competition “PTT Tennis Development Tournament” (Southern Region), 5th edition at the Walailak University Tennis Courts, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The tournament welcomed more than 141 young athletes, competing in singles across multiple age categories: under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 years, both male and female. The event attracted not only youth athletes from across Thailand but also international participants from Japan, Malaysia, Russia, and Hong Kong, all competing to earn ranking points and qualify for the “PTT–NSDF Tennis Development Tournament Masters Round” to be held later this year.
Assistant Professor Dr. Marisa Phumiphak Na Nongkhai, Director of the Center for Cultural and Sports Promotion, Walailak University, stated that Walailak University is fully prepared to host national-level competitions, particularly with its 8 international-standard tennis courts. She emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting the development of Thai sports, especially in building a strong foundation for youth athletes to become future leaders in the Thai tennis scene. She added that this competition not only serves as a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their skills and enhance their performance but also inspires them to cultivate a passion for tennis and pursue professional athletic careers with confidence.
