For water sports in Thailand The Amateur Swimming Association of Thailand was registered with the Police Department on June 24, 1959, with Lt. Gen. Sawat Putianan as the first president of the Amateur Swimming Association of Thailand. Before becoming a member of the International Swimming Federation in 1961 and in 2005, the Amateur Swimming Association of Thailand has changed its name to Swimming Association of Thailand which sponsors a wide range of water sports including swimming, diving, water polo and underwater dancing.
