“Junior Tour Guides” Batch 2 from Walailak University Ready to Provide Professional Guided Tours

On August 4th and 18th, 2022, the Center for Cultural Promotion and Sports, with support from the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Project, organized a workshop titled “Bilingual Junior Tour Guides for the Tumpang Historical Site” (Thai-English) to develop students’ skills, enabling them to provide professional tours and share knowledge about the Tumpang Historical Site, an important archaeological site at Walailak University.

The event was inaugurated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Marisa Phumipak Na Nongkhai, Acting Director of the Center for Cultural Promotion and Sports, who also shared insights on becoming a good junior tour guide. This year, 52 students registered for the program, and 40 successfully completed the training, receiving certificates and Junior Tour Guide badges (Batch 2).

The students who completed the training gained the following knowledge and experience: Academic knowledge of the Tumpang Historical Site and other historical sites in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, provided by Mr. Siriyupun Thapbenthai, an archaeologist from the 12th Regional Office of Fine Arts, Nakhon Si Thammarat; Professional tour guide skills, provided by Dr. Sukumarn Klamseangsai from the School of Management; English presentation skills, taught by Ms. Povirasa Praditsorn and Ajarn Zachary Suarez from the School of Languages and General Education; and Technical presentation skills using virtual reality technology, instructed by Mr. Pirasut Kaeotleprasert, an academic from the School of Informatics.
